Itacimirim ( what means “small stone”) is a quiet place with summer houses that get´s moved only on week-ends, when the people from Salvador come out , to relax in this small paradise and fill up with energy; the middle yearly temperature is about 25C, what gives you an agreeable climate all over the year.

The distance to the international Airport of Salvador is about 48km. So, after a long flight you need less than a forty minutes ride to get there.

A further 10km up the coast is the well-known  village of Praia do Forte, which offers a good choice of bars, restaurants, boutiques and the famous Sea TurtleProjectTAMAR.
Itacimirim has five beaches: the first is  Praia da Barra , because it´s here where the Pojuca River flows into the ocean; so you have a beautiful landscape of both, the river with his mangrove swamps and the meeting of the river with the ocean; 

The second beach is  Praia das Ondas, because of it´s strong waves.

The third beach is Praia do Porto, where many years ago the fisher-men anchored their boats.

Than they found a better place, Praia da Espera, the fourth beach, where our lodge has been  built. This anchor place is located behind a line of riffs, that protect the place against
strong waves. Therefore the name is Praia da Espera , what means Beach of Waiting: when there is a  storm, and the boats can´t enter the ports in  the neighbourhood, they call to our port , where the  fisher´s wifes come together in order to wait for their men.

The riffs do not only protect the boats, but they form also natural pools surrounded by corals, where our guests find a lot of snorkel places for coral fishes .

Praia da Espera is also the place, where the adventurer Amyr Klink arrived in 1984 after a 100-day tour with his rowing boat, coming from Namíbia crossing the Atlantic Ocean. As he was a very good organizer, he couldn´t but choose  Praia da Espera as the best option to stop and relax ...

Some hundred meters south comes the last beach of Itacimirim, Praia do Peru. This beach is the best for sufers and for romantic people who want so see a breathtaking sunset. But their is also a sunken ship, where experient divers have good sport opportunities.

Besides the beaches you find the Lake Guarajuba and the Península Ilha do Meio. Who likes a nice walk finds here a good path.

As there is always a breeze coming from the sea, it is comfortable to stay here, even during the hot days of summer.
Down-town you can find a small restaurant, preparing the delicious Pitu, a small river-lobster.

I got the idea to write poems,
I got the idea to stay,
I thought about the sound of the sea
and the glitter of the waves, when it grows dark.
I got the idea to love
with the silence of the moon and the sound of the sea,
the sea weeping and the moon lightening ,
the moon coming and going,
there is no better place.
I got the idea to write poems,
I got the idea to stay
at this wonderful place.
